Origins

Lolita Artisanal Bakery's story is deeply rooted in the rich baking traditions of Argentina. Silvia Leiva Browne, the proud owner, inherited her passion for baking from her mother, Dolores "Lolita" Gonzalez de Leiva. In their homeland of Argentina, Lolita and her husband, Ricardo, ran a beloved bakery that specialized in crafting delectable alfajores and pastries. This iconic family venture commenced its journey in 1965, nestled in the picturesque town of Cosquin, located in the Sierras de Cordoba.

Lolita and Ricardo, along with their entire family, played pivotal roles in leading and managing the bakery. Their commitment to their craft was unwavering as they toiled side by side with loyal production workers. Whether it was welcoming local patrons or greeting tourists year-round, the Leiva family embraced the spirit of community and dedication, forging a legacy that spanned over 30 years.

To pay homage to her mother's remarkable legacy, Silvia decided to bring the cherished recipes and baking expertise from her family's traditional alfajores business to the United States. This endeavor was driven by a profound sense of pride and passion for her Argentine heritage. Since 2014, Silvia, alongside her son, husband, and niece, embarked on this culinary journey, initially sharing their creations at local Farmer's Markets and select stores.

In 2018, their dream took a significant leap as they proudly opened their first retail shop at the Hillsdale Shopping Center in San Mateo, California. Then December 18, 2022, a date of great significance for Argentinians, Lolita Artisanal Bakery unveiled its new and only location at 3790 S El Camino Real, Suite 101, San Mateo, CA, United States. This beautiful and loving tradition has endured, remaining family-owned and family-operated. Today, it thrives with the invaluable contributions of a talented, energetic team, who have become an integral part of the Lolita family.
